When I passed my driving test I enlisted Pennys help to buy my first car, we went with Jamie and had a look at a couple, there was a polo that looked good, but after a quick look at the engine he said it was rubbish and the guy was blatantly trying to scam someone, we were going to give up for the day but decided to have a look on gumtree and found a little 1998 Corsa Breeze, went to see it and although it had a slight hesitation in the engine it was judged acceptable - although not at the same price they were asking! I'm rubbish at haggling so he did it for me and knocked 30 quid off the price, I agreed to it, paid the guy and shook on the deal and Penny just turned to me with a big smile on his face and said "Congratulations, you just bought yourself a car" After that of course any time I needed mechanical advice he was my first port of call. He gave the car (which I named Herbie eventually - after threatening to call it PnJ for Penny and Jamie - an idea that he and jamie both vetoed instantly!) it's first service in about 10 years and when the ECU went bust he traced down a second hand one and exchanged them for me.
